Date nights are rare these days with two little boys and the inevitable busy babysitter issue. We scored a babysitter last weekend and visited Hoffbrau Steaks in the Dallas West End area. On our date nights, we love to try new places instead of returning to the same places over and over again. We have never actually been to a Hoffbrau Steaks, and was very excited to sample the menu.

The Hoffbrau Steaks feel is rustic Texas with Texas hospitality. Hoffbrau Steaks is a country-comfortable and family-owned restaurant in the Dallas and Amarillo, TX area. The night was rainy, so we opted for an indoors booth with many locals enjoying each others company. The restaurant is not overbearingly loud and you can easily enjoy a conversation, which always earns bonus points in my mind. At 7:30pm on a weekday night, it was the perfect time to try somewhere new.

We started off with a couple glasses of tea and ordered their famous Brau Chips. Crispy and homemade, these chips are what Texas cuisine is all about. It’s a must have at Hoffbrau Steaks. Bet you can’t eat just one.

After pursuing the menu, I decided on the best of both worlds, shrimp and steak. I tried the steak filet and grilled shrimp plate. Trust me. It’s as good as it looks. If you order any side item at all, order the Mac and cheese. Sorry, Granny. This one’s better. Our dinners arrived quickly and were piping out. Our glasses were never less than half-full. Amazing food and service is what Hoffbrau Steaks are all about.
